Quit This.

architecture-brick-broken-162630I want to push boundaries.
Mostly my own,
But yours, too.
A child with a lens
Tilted just so in the sun,
I’ll watch as you squirm,
Trying to evade
My beam of intrusion.

I want to demolish walls.
Mostly my own,
But yours, too.
Hands on the controls,
Mad gleam in my eye,
As the wrecking ball
Swings back wide and
Arcs your way.

I want to pull strings.
Mostly yours,
But his and his, too.
Gently biting my lip,
Fighting back a grin,
I conjure words that push
You over the precipice
Of longing for me.

I want to quit this.
Mostly for my sake,
But for yours, too.
Trading my old post
At the helm of destruction
For a place by your side.
Hands woven together
Our first act of creation.
